Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institutes

MBARI logo

The need to understand the ocean in all its complexity and variability drives the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute’s research and technology development efforts. We partner with the Benthic Ecology Lab and a wide range of scientists and engineers at MBARI.

Stanford University and Hopkins Marine Station

Our partners at Stanford University include scientists and engineers with broad expertise ranging from fisheries and community ecology, disease biology, and resilience in coupled human-natural systems to oceanography, environmental and geophysical fluid dynamics and mathematical modeling. Members are drawn from a number of labs and departments including the Hopkins Marine Station and the Bob and Norma Street Environmental Fluid MechanicsDeLeo and Michel laboratories.

University of Georgia and COBIALab

How do we define sustainability in the face of natural variability and can we engineer sustainable solutions for coastal communities? Our partners in the Coastal Oceanography and Biophysical Integrated Analysis Lab at the University of Georgia are using a combination of tools including field observation technology, experimentation, modeling, and dynamical systems analysis to insure sustainable coastal and marine resources for the future.

COBI

COBI logo

Community and Biodiversity (COBI in Spanish) is a Mexican civil society organization founded in 1999 with the goal of saving marine ecosystems that are deteriorating due to unsustainable exploitation of natural resources. There are four main factors driving the degradation of marine ecosystems in Mexico.
